Opening Verse:
“A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.” Proverbs 18:1 NKJV

Introduction:
Welcome to an amazing Sunday here at River of Faith! We are in week three of our new series "Mr. Lonely " a biblical survey on the topic of loneliness. It's obvious that all of us have experienced some kind of loneliness in our lives. Even if the Bible does not talk about it by name, it is evident that the Scriptures expresses the feelings of sadness, despair, and sorrow even in the lives of God's people. Remember it is not a sin to feel lonely. Loneliness is a state of mind caused by a strong feeling of isolation or separation. Being lonely is not the same as being alone or vice versa. You can be alone and not feel lonely or you can be lonely even if you are not alone.

Part 3 is about giving in to the feeling of being alone. A recent survey by Pew Research Center found that a significant portion of Americans feel lonely, with one-in-six adults reporting feeling lonely or isolated most of the time. Younger adults, particularly those under 50, are more likely to report feeling lonely frequently compared to those 50 and older.

Main Pointers:
“When Ahab got home, he told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal. So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: “May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed  them.” Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there. Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.” Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. But as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him, “Get up and eat!” He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again. Then the angel of the Lord came again and touched him and said, “Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you.” So he got up and ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai, the mountain of God. There he came to a cave, where he spent the night. But the Lord said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?””
1 Kings 19:1-9 NLT

1. God can still meet us in our defeat.

A. Sometimes we focus too much on whether or not we should feel the way that we do. Regardless of the reason God is always willing to meet us in our defeat if we will allow Him.
B. Does Elijah have a valid reason to feel depressed after witnessing the supernatural defeat of 450 Baal prophets? it doesn't matter because God met with him no matter what. God picked him up when he can't do it himself.
C. “even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.”
2 Corinthians 12:7 NLT
D. “That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:10 NLT

2. God showed Elijah His real power.

“Elijah replied, “I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.” “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He replied again, “I have zealously served the Lord God Almighty. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed every one of your prophets. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me, too.”
1 Kings 19:10-14 NLT

A. Not too long ago Elijah experienced one of the greatest supernatural work of God mentioned in the Bible. This time God had told him to meet him in the mount of God, mount Sinai.
B. Im sure Elijah was preparing to see another supernatural move of the Lord. There was a mighty windstorm, an earthquake, and a fire but Elijah did not see the Lord there.
C. "In a still small voice the Lord spoke to Elijah. “Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies."
Zechariah 4:6 NLT

3. When God is with us we are never alone.

“Then the Lord told him, “Go back the same way you came, and travel to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive there, anoint Hazael to be king of Aram. Then anoint Jehu grandson of Nimshi to be king of Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from the town of Abel-meholah to replace you as my prophet. Anyone who escapes from Hazael will be killed by Jehu, and those who escape Jehu will be killed by Elisha! Yet I will preserve 7,000 others in Israel who have never bowed down to Baal or kissed him!””
1 Kings 19:15-18 NLT

A. The cause of Elijah's despair was that he kept repeating that there was no one left but him. He really thought that everyone had turned to be an idol Worshipper. After the still small voice God reminded Him he had 7,000 others who had not bowed down to Baal.
B. There are times that we might feel that we are alone. That we are the only ones left that keep on fighting. There are those who are fighting in silence. Getting on their knees when no one is watching. Those are God's army and there plenty of those still in the kingdom of God. You are not alone!

Conclusion:
It's depressing sometimes if you are the last to leave. The only one left in the class taking the exam. The only one who's still working. In those times you will realize that God is much more near! He is close and you only need to hear the still small voice asking you "my child why are you here?"
